- Question: if i purchase the athena is there any chance i can pay a certain amount a month?
- Our Answer:
I am sorry, we don't currently offer credit facilities. You can, of course, pay us monthly over say 6 months and we will ship the unit to you once you have paid the amount in full. Kind regards
- Question: i am having problems with my sex life, my partner or my myself cant feel anything through sexual intercourse. will the ahena help me ?
- Our Answer:
Without a doubt, yes, if your problem is pelvic floor strength. If you cannot grip your partner then you do need to improve your pelvic floor. We have other products for pelvic floor workouts of course that are quite a lot cheaper.
- Question: i've been suffering from incontinence since my last child 5 years ago. i only now just found out about the athena and i'm very excited about all i heard about it. Only just yesterday l found out i'm pregnant (about 2 weeks) can i still use the athena? i don't think i can go 9 months pregnant with incontinence. Please advise. thank you.
- Our Answer:
Hi, as you are pregnant we are going to have to ask you to discuss this with your healthcare professional first as for legal reasons we cannot offer an opinion. Sorry, I know this is not what you want to hear! Kind regards
- Question: Is it necessary to consult a doctor to be able to understand how to use this piece of equipment effectively ?
- Our Answer:
Not at all no unless you have a pre-existing medical condition like a prolapse then you should of course. However, in regards to how to UNDERSTAND how to use the AthenaFem, no - a Dr is not required - the instructions and DVD are quite easy to follow. Many thanks
- Question: Hi , I live in Argentina and I would like to know:
How much the postage would be to Argentina?
How long would it take to arrive?
Can I claim the VAT back because it goes outside of the EU?
And if there is any fault wit the unit how does the warranty works?
Kind Regards
- Our Answer:
Sorry, right now we do not ship to Argentina, sorry. We ship to a few countries outside the EU including USA and Canada but we have not set up for Argentina yet. Thanks
- Question: I believe I read somewhere that the unit has rechargeable batteries. Presumably they are easy to remove to recharge or replace as necessary?
- Our Answer:
They are not rechargeable in the probe, no. However, they last approximately 4 to 5 years. You can then send them off to us for replacement for a nominal fee. Kind regards
- Question: i am in ireland what is the cost and postage
- Our Answer:
Hi. Cost is £205.85 for vat inclusive version. If you choose VAT Exempt version the VAT is refunded once you return the form so the actual cost is £179.00
Shipping to Ireland is via Royal Mail AirSure which is a 3 day service and costs £14.50. Remember you get a free facial massager too worth £15.00. Thanks
- Question: If the trainer part but not the controller were to become faulty, is it possible to order a replacement for just that part or does the whole lot have to be replaced?
- Our Answer:
Hi, yes we can sort out replacement parts whether it's the controller or the probe. The unit is covered by a warranty of course. Kind regards
- Question: I have just bought this product I inserted the trainer but its just keeps falling out all the time
- Our Answer:
Hi, try lying on your back at first - it can take some getting used to - don't use too much lubricant and try and relax - it could well be your body is squeezing it out with muscle contractions? However, first go, try lying on your back - if you have any further trouble please let us know. Kind regards
- Question: Does the VAT claim form have to be signed by my GP
- Our Answer:
Not at all, no - you are self-certifying the form. Just fill in the box with say "Stress incontinence" for example, sign it, date it and return to us. Thanks
- Question: Before I buy this item i have to know if it does tighten up your your vagina to make sex more pleasurebale
- Our Answer:
Yes, that is a very pleasant effect of using pelvic toners and the AthenaFem is particularly good at it! Thanks
- Question: I have a prolapse which is mainly due to an enlarged uterus full of fibroid tissue. Would the athenafem make the fibrosis worse, or even help? I believe it would help with the prolapse problem, but do not want to make the fibrosis worse in doing so. Many thanks.
- Our Answer:
We could only suggest you discuss with your doctor first I'm afraid as each medical situation is unique and different. Sorry we can't be more specific. Best regards
- Question: My dr. has diagnosed a mild front prolapse and has prescribed Kegal exersise. I did ask if cones would help and she said they were worth a try. I didn't know about the Athena -or similar - so I didn't specifically ask her. If she was happy the prolapse wouldn't affect the cones, would it be reasonable to believe the same would apply to the electrical devices?
- Our Answer:
Maybe, it's probably best to call them and ask her to call you back and discuss over the phone - save a visit. We do know that many women with prolapses use the AthenaFem or similar.
- Question: Hi
I have had 4 children and can feel that my vagina is not as tight as it once was. I dont have a problem with incontenance..yet! Could you tell me whether this product would or could help with tightening my vagina for sexual pleasure.
Thanks
- Our Answer:
Oh yes, definitely so! As will the PelviTone or the manual Pelvic Toner - in fact, all the pelvic toners on our site will help. The AthenaFem one is one of the easiest to use and doesn't use any wires so it's quite convenient too. However, the PelviTone one has the most pre-set programmes and is totally configurable to your exact use - not one for the techno-phobes though! Thanks
- Question: Hi there, I want to buy this product to improve my sex life as ive become loose and my boyfriend claims he cannot feel anything, ive never had children and it is really getting me down. I have never done pelvic floor exercising. It is really making me self consious and spoiling my sex life. I did buy the Femotone product but dont have time to sit there with a wire hanging out for all to see, wireless would be better as it is discret. Could I use at work as im in a sit down job? Will this help and can you use it when you are on your period? Thanks
- Our Answer:
Hi, if you've never had children it's quite surprising that you feel you are loose. Can you I suggest you talk to a female GP and ask her for an examination to get her opinion? It may well be that there is nothing wrong with you at all and it could well be simply a perception by your boyfriend? Or maybe he has sensitivity or size issues? In regards to your question about the AthenaFem - it is still not suitable for use sitting down at work - it would probably want to try and slip out when you moved. The AthenaFem could be used say in a bathroom at work for 20 minutes or during lunch hour in the car - but you really do need to keep still most of the time.
Personally, I would talk to a Dr to get their opinion.
- Question: With reference to VAT. I have suffered from stress incontinence for years now but have never been to the doctors. Does this mean that I have to pay VAT.
- Our Answer:
No, not at all. You can select the VAT Exempt version and a self-declaration form will be sent with your order - you can then fill it in and return it to us by fax or post for a VAT refund. Many thanks
- Question: can you explain more about why it is necessary to engage the help of a doctor prior to using the PMT device?
- Our Answer:
Hi, if you have suffered a prolapse, or are suffering from a medical condition, or are pregnant or have just given birth you should consult with a health care professional. For example, you maybe pregnant and not know it and you shouldn't use any pelvic exerciser without consultation if you are pregnant. You may have a vaginal infection also. There are many reasons really why it is normally advisable to discuss with a GP before using a pelvic exerciser. However, if you know you are not pregnant and you are in good health and you have not just given birth most people do not bother to seek medical advice first without any detriment whatsoever. Thanks
- Question: Hi, could i use the athenafem while you are pregnant, i am curranly six months, thanks..
- Our Answer:
Hi, we would have to say no, not unless agreed by your health care professional in advance. Thanks
- Question: How does thisproduct compare to the cleo Q, Dr Steele seems to back that product up aswell. It is confusing, as they cost quite a bit I woudn't like to make the wrong decison. How many contractions doe this machine provide in a session. The cleo provides a 1500 in a session, and the requirement is 350 to 450 daily.
Your help in this matter would be grately appreciated.
Many thanks
mrs Brook
- Our Answer:
Hi, the Cleo Q is a good unit. The only reason we haven't stocked this unit is we feel it is very overpriced. The AthenaFem is only a little more and is totally wireless, unlike the Cleo Q which has a wire from the unit to the probe. Our PelviTone is a wired unit and is BETTER than the Cleo in our opinion as it has more pre-set programmes in it. So, if you were to compare one to the other I would compare the Cleo Q to the PelviTone - the PelviTone is nearly £100 cheaper, just as nice looking and has more functionality. This is why we don't stock the Cleo. I hope this has helped. Thanks
- Question: as this emits a small electrical current is it safe to use whn you have a pacemaker fitted
- Our Answer:
Hi, sorry it's taken 4 days to get back to you! However, I was waiting on the manufacturer to confirm that you CAN use the AthenaFem even with a pacemaker fitted. Thanks
- Question: My gynaecologist notes that I have a mild prolapse of the bladder and recommends Kegel exercises. Would AthenaFem be suitable for my needs?
- Our Answer:
It could well be, however you would need to discuss this with your GP or Gynecologist first.
- Question: Can I use the Athenafem even though I have a coil fitted?
- Our Answer:
You will need to talk to your GP or health care professional about this I am afraid. Thanks
- Question: Can I move about while using the AthenaFem?
- Our Answer:
Some women may be able to do this; but, in most cases, probably not. You could try wearing your underwear after it is inserted in case you do have to get up and move about. This should help keep it in place.
- Question: How long will I have to use the PMT before I see results?
- Our Answer:
Each individual is different. It varies with age, weight, overall health, menopause, and in many cases, the number of vaginal childbirths the woman has experienced. In the best case scenario, you will notice tightening of the pelvic muscle after about 30 days of use though some people report benefits after only 1 week.
After you have succeeded in strengthening the pelvic muscle, we suggest that you continue exercising (perhaps with a reduced schedule), for maximum effectiveness and to maintain good pelvic health. After all, you try to keep the other muscles in your body toned and taut... so don't neglect this very important one!
- Question: Can new mothers who gave birth vaginally use the PMT? If so, how long after childbirth?
- Our Answer:
It is highly recommended that new mothers begin pelvic floor rehabilitation as soon as possible after giving birth. You should consult with your doctor to determine when to start using the PMT.
- Question: Should I physically do "Kegels" in addition to using the Athena PMT?
- Our Answer:
Although it probably isn't necessary, anything you can do to be proactive and expedite the alleviation of your incontinence problem will be good news for you.
- Question: How do I insert it?
- Our Answer:
We recommend a prone or semi-prone (such as a recliner) position for inserting the PMT.
- Question: How do I remove it?
- Our Answer:
The easiest way is to use about a 14" length of sanitary dental floss. Thread it through the eyelet on the Trainer and tie at the end. Many women are able to push it out but in the beginning, always start with the clean dental floss.
- Question: How can I tell if it is "ON"?
- Our Answer:
You should feel a contraction of the muscles which feels like trying to suppress the urge to urinate and then letting go. If you don't feel this type of contraction, take the tip of your finger and move the PMT slightly until it finds the right place for you. Many women say they find they don't have to put it very far inside the opening but just enough to feel the eyelet at the end of the Trainer.
- Question: I have a prolapsed cervix. Does this condition prohibit my use of the Pelvic Muscle Trainer?
- Our Answer:
Only your physician can determine that for you since each prolapse is unique.
- Question: I am allergic to some metallic materials. Will I have a reaction to the PMT?
- Our Answer:
All of the physical properties of the PMT have been deemed safe by the Federal Drug Administration and we meet their standards along with the EU CE mark requirements.
- Question: Can I use a vaginal lubricant while using the PMT?
- Our Answer:
Yes. We recommend a water-based lubricant, but only if necessary. DO NOT use a petroleum-based jelly. You can also use a little water if you don't have lubricant.
- Question: How do I clean the PMT?
- Our Answer:
The PMT Trainer module is sealed and can be cleaned with warm soapy water, rinsed, dried and put back in the cradle on the controller. You can also use antiseptic wipe or with tissue or cotton balls if desired.
The Wireless Controller module should be kept dry at all times; if it requires cleaning, carefully wipe clean with a damp cloth.
- Question: Can I let another person use my personal PMT?
- Our Answer:
Although the trainer can be cleaned, the PMT should only be used by the person for whom it was prescribed. We do not condone letting another individual use your PMT.
- Question: How can I resume my usage if I am interrupted before the 15 minutes are up and have to turn it off and take it out?
- Our Answer:
Place the trainer back into the cradle on the controller to reset it. It will immediately be ready to remove and start again.
- Question: Do I have to move the dial every time to the setting I like?
- Our Answer:
No. At the beginning of every session, the PMT will gradually ramp up to the last used setting automatically. This process takes a few seconds.
