About Clinitas Soothe for Dry Eyes - DISCONTINUED
Clinitas Soothe is a natural, preservative free eye drop for when you are suffering from dry, gritty eyes. Ideal for those who have to use a computer monitor a lot of the time or drive a lot.
Clinitas Soothe is ideal for busy, active people with sub-chronic dry, gritty eyes caused by inadequate mucin and aqueous layers precipitated by:
- Low-blink rate activities - computer use, TV watching, driving, reading
- Lachrymal insuffi ciency
- Sensitivity to preservatives
- 20 Inidividual applicators
What is Clinitas Soothe and What Does it do Exactly?
Clinitas Soothe is a natural, preservative-free eye drop in easy to use single containers. It has a uniquely high concentration of sodium hyaluronate, which along with its optimised molecular weight ensures prolonged relief from dry eyes.
- 0.4% Sodium Hyaluronate - highest commercially available concentration in the UK to date
- Portable, ergonomically designed and precision moulded container, free from sharp protrusions, for ultimate convenience and application safety
- Superb economy
- More drops per vial (making application easier)
- Each container is preservative-free and sterile until opened, thus the entire pack can be utilised up to the "use by" date.
How Does Clinitas Soothe Work?
Clinitas Soothe contains sodium hyaluronate, which is a naturally occurring bio polymer found widely in connective tissue and in the vitreous body of the human eye.
It is capable of binding and retaining large amounts of water (1 gram can hold up to 6 litres of water). Sodium hyaluronate also has mucomimetic properties which enhance mucin volume and improve tear film stability.
It has ideal rheological properties. It is a viscoelastic showing pseudoplasticity (an inverse relationship between viscosity and shear), which is particularly benefi cial in supporting the blinking mechanism and reflex.
What all of this means is that Clinitas is GREAT when your eyes are dry and gritty!
What is Dry Eye?
During blinking tears form a film which coats, protects and nourishes the eye surface. When the tear volume is reduced or the tear film is unstable, eyes can fill gritty, scratchy and irritated.
Anything that reduces the normal amount of tears may result in dry eye
What Causes Dry Eye?

What is "The Tear Film"?
The tear film is a trilaminate structure, which protects the surface of the eye, helping to create a smooth optical surface so vision stays crisp, clear and undistorted.
A healthy tear film consists of 3 layers with distinct and complementary functions:
LIPID LAYER is composed of oils secreated by the meibomaian glands. This is the outermost layer of the tear film covering the aqueous phase and providing a hydrophobic barrier, which modulates tear evaporation and retains moisture. The lipid layer also protects the eye surface from contamation.
AQUEOUS LAYER is produced by the lacrymal gland it is the central component of the tear film and accounts for about 98% of tear volume. It consists mainly of water but also contains other substances such as proteins, which nourish the eye, and electrolytes. This layer also washes away irritants, keeping the eye healthy. It helps maintain optimum vision by promoting spreading of the tear film across the cornea.
MUCIN LAYER is the inner and foundation layer of the tear film it anchors the film to the cornea. It is produced from goblet cells within the conjunctiva. Its key functions are to facilitate film distribution evenly over the corneal surface and adherence to the corneal epithelium.

Here Is A Recent Customer Review....
"I work on a PC most of the day and what with the aircon in the office (too damn cold this time of year as well!!!) my eyes always feel tired and very dry by the end of the day. This is my 5th or 6th order of Clinitas Soothe now and I can't recommend it enough. I'm not fond of eye drops but these are just great - you don't end up with it all over your face either - the applicator is very good and easy to control"
