What is Biofeedback?
Biofeedback is the process of becoming aware of physiological functions in the body using instruments such as the Peritone EMG Biofeedback Unit to provide information on the activity of those same functions with the aim to manipulate them voluntarily. Processes which can be controlled using biofeedback include brainwaves, muscle tone, heart rate and pain perception.
In 1992, the US Agency for Health Care Policy recommended biofeedback as a first-line treatment for adult urinary incontinence
Biofeedback is used to improve health and performance - these physiological changes often occur alongside changes to thoughts, emotions and behaviour. In the long-term, these changes can be managed without the use of extra equipment.
Important to Note
The Peritone should be used in conjunction with a Periform (vaginal electrode) or Anuform (anal electrode) and surface electrodes.
Please note, Periform and/or Anuform electrodes are NOT supplied with this unit
