About MUI (Male Urinary Incontinence)

Male Urinary Incontinence is a medical condition that affects millions of men from all around the world. Some experience partial loss of bladder control, while others may have continuous bladder leakage. Men may experience Urinary Incontinence as a result of prostate problems, or could experience nerve damage that leads to Urinary Incontinence.

Causes of MUI (Male Urinary Incontinence)

Prostate Problems

  • BPH (enlarged Prostate) may put pressure on the bladder and cause it to contract even when it contains only a small amount of urine.

More than 50% of men in their 60's and upto 90% in their 70's have some symptoms of BPH leading to urinary leaking or dribbling

  • Radical Prostatectomy - The surgical removal of the entire prostate gland - called radical prostatectomy - may be recommended to treat prostate cancer. The surgery may lead to Urinary Incontinence.

  • External beam radiation: This therapy uses an x-ray to deliver radiation to the prostate gland. The treatment is not painful but can cause loss of bladder control.

Nerve Problems

  • Any disease, condition, or injury that damages nerves can lead to urination problems. Nerve problems can occur at any age.
  • Men who have had diabetes for many years may develop nerve damage that affects their bladder control.
  • Stroke, Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis all affect the brain and nervous system, so they can also cause incontinence.
  • Overactive bladder is a condition in which the bladder squeezes at the wrong time. A person with overactive bladder may have any two or all three of the following symptoms:
    • urinary frequency - urination eight or more times a day or two or more times at night
    • urinary urgency - the sudden, strong need to urinate immediately
    • urge incontinence - urine leakage that follows a sudden, strong urge
  • Spinal cord injury can cause incontinence by interrupting the nerve signals required for bladder control.
  • In neural birth defects such as spina bifida or myelomeningocele, the backbone and spinal canal do not close before birth. In severe cases, nerve damage can result in many problems, including lack of control over urination.

Normal Options for Men With MUI (Male Urinary Incontinence)

A urostomy pouch (or urine bag) is worn under the clothes and acts as a type of reservoir. Pads or diapers are also worn under the clothes and absorb the liquid as it escapes.

Both of these options are less than satisfactory if you plan on leading an active and healthy lifestyle

Introducing the Dribblestop Male Urinary Incontinence Clamp

dribblestop male urinary incontinence clampThe Dribblestop Male Urinary Incontinence Clamp is an external clamp that is worn on the penis and applies just enough pressure to the urethra to prevent the flow of urine. The clamp is small, comfortable, convenient, adjustable, all plastic, washable and most important - it works. This penile clamp lets you get back to the things you like to do!

What is it Made Of?

The entire penile clamp is made of lightweight plastic and high quality, medical approved foam that does not absorb liquid. The result is a soft, natural feel - this penile clamp is so small and comfortable, (3 inch long by 1/2 inch wide) you won't even notice it's there!

Custom Fit

The Dribblestop® Male Urinary Incontinence Clamp is fully adjustable. Each penile clamp comes with different sized links resulting in a choice of size options from small to large.

Allows Blood Circulation

The Dribblestop® Male Urinary Incontinence Clamp does not apply any pressure to the sides of the penis. Since blood circulation is unrestricted, the clamp provides a comfortable fit while effectively stopping bladder leakage.

Recent Feedback on the Dribblestop Male Urinary Clamp

"As the editor of procansupport.com and an incontinent survivor of prostate surgery, I developed a self interest in the various treatments available. I was looking into an internal sphincter when my urologist suggested Dribblestop...Dribblestop is a clamp like no other I have used. Light weight, comfortable, long wearing, Dribblestop has given me the freedom of movement I didn't think would ever be possible. The clamp went with me to places I would never have considered going to a year ago; Egypt, Cairo and on a Safari to Tanzania and it passes undetected through airport (security). I am also back to teaching Karate full time! Thanks Henry!"

"Following prostate surgery I suffered urinary incontinence. Dribblestop eliminated the need for further surgery and has made the most amazing difference in my quality of life."

"I was so pleased to find something that will help me to live a normal life. I have fought this problem for over fifteen years and hadn't found anything to compare with it."

"I am 62 years old and radical prostatectomy left me uncontrollably incontinent. I was using pads at the rate of about 10 a day. I was depressed and almost agoraphobic. I ordered the Dribblestop and I hardly know that I have it on and can now do everything I did before surgery. I am so pleased with it I that I don't even worry anymore about whether or not I ever regain continence. Thank you so much."

Very incontinent after radical prostectomy. Using 5+ heavy duty pads per day with all associated inconvenience and cost. Have now been using Dribble Stop for 8 weeks. After a day or two trial and error found the clip settings that suit me. Still wear one Tena level 2 pad per day to protect against extreme stress situations. The pad is often completely dry at the end of the day. I am a very active person and gym sessions are back on the agenda! NHS should consider this product.

Well done on an innovative product - the solution is better than the other solutions out there - I can assure you after using all of them - surgery was looking likely but since finding this product there is no need. Marked it down 1 star as I think it's a little expensive but hey, if it does the trick!

My wife insisted I write this review as we are both so pleased with this product. I never normally write reviews but this really has changed my life. Since entering my 60's I had prostate problems and subsequently I suffer from leakage - after being stuck using pouches and pads I am FINALLY FREE - thanks so much. Oh, I have to say I was a tad worried about the idea of clamping the 'old fella' but please can I assure any men out there reading this - it is totally safe and comfortable. Ask a Question

Question: During a TURB biopsy in February my radiotherapy damaged bladder was holed. After a repair operation I had an indwelling catheter for 5 weeks for the hole to heal. When the catheter was removed I found I was incontinent especially a night. I wear a conveen and leg bag at night and wondered if your product would allow me to wake up and urinate as normally happened prior to the surgery.
Any assistance would be gratefully received
Our Answer:

Hello, the Dribblestop is used to stem the flow of a dribble of urine - when worn it will prevent the slow dribble of urine that can no longer be stopped by your own muscles. When you feel the urge to urinate, then you simply remove the Dribblestop and urinate as normal. It should be stressed that the Dribblestop is not designed to a full flow of urine such as when urinating, but th stop the uncontrollable dribble, which often occurs as the result of male bladder operations. Many thanks

Question: I had the prostate scrape Approx 18 months ago and wear havy pads still and only dribble but when I have a cold and cough i can use up to two a day, its the same when doing any manual work my age is 66. Qustion (1) Would the Dribble stop be of any use for me ? (2) Would I need to wear the dribblestop all the time, is it to train my mussels to I eventually do without it. Thankyou
Our Answer:

Hello, the Dribblestop helps with a dribble of urine, rather than a heavy flow, so is suitable if you experience a low level of urine leak. It does not train the muscles - to do that you would need a pelvic floor trainer with an anal trainer. To avoid urine leakage, you will need to wear the Dribblestop whenever you are likely to experience leaks. It is soft and comfortable to wear, so can be worn at all times. Many thanks

Question: Having been told by my consultant that I may never be able to have an artificial sphincter implanted he told me about the penile clamp. He suggested it could be worn for a couple of hours to give me a rest from the convene and leg bag which I wear 24/7 and is very restricting. Is the clamp suitable for longer periods of time without any side effects and would I be able to use the loo without getting wet as I am very incontinent and not sure if out I would be able to keep myself dry before replacing the clamp. I look forward to some feedback from you.
Many thanks
Our Answer:

Hi, the Dribblestop is used for stopping a drip/dribble and cannot stop a full flow of urine - it is not designed for that. So, I am not sure if this is suitable for you to be honest. You maybe best printing off the details from our site (link below) and taking them to your consultant. I am sorry I cannot be more specific with the information provided at this time. However, if your continence problem is a drip/dribble then the Dribblestop can be used for more than just a few hours at a time yes. As for putting the clamp on then you can hold your penis to stop the dribble, apply the clamp, and then release and it should be fine. Kind regards, Andrew

Question: How frequently does one need to renew a Dribblestop if one uses it everyday? Every one or two years or more frequently?

Frederick
Our Answer:

Hello, the Dribblestop is fairly robust, and if used properly there is no real need to replace other than every few years. The Dribblestop comes with two clamps, so to prlong its life it is recommended that you alternate them. Many thanks

Question: I have a very sensitive bladder do not drip but need to find a loo about every hour when out and about

would this clamp stop this problem
Our Answer:

Hello, no, the Dribblestop will not stop the urge incontinence that you are experiencing, as it is designed purely as a clamp against an incessant dribble - or drip - that is normally the result of surgery or prostate damage.
When you need to go the toilet you should go - however, if the frequency of trips to the loo has dramatically increased or is becoming a worry, then you should go to see your doctor to get it checked it - sonner rather than later. You may wish to take a Saw Palmetto supplement, which can help with male urinary tract health. Many thanks

Question: me gustaría adquirir el producto pero no se en que parte de Colombia lo puedo conseguir.
Our Answer:

Hola. Por desgracia, no enviamos a Colombia. Muchas gracias

Question: I understand that this product can be available with no VAT if you have a chronic medical condition.
Our Answer:

Hello, unfortunately the Dribblestop is not available with VAT exemption as it has not been registered by the manufacturers as a medical device within the UK. Many thanks

Question: As a result of numerous invasive procedures following radiotherapy for prostate cancer, my penis is short and flaccid. The clamp keeps slipping off the end even on the tightest fitting. What am I doing wrong? I am desperate to get relief from leaking.
Our Answer:

Hello, the Dribblestop should be worn on the penis behind the head of the penis, rather than on the end - there is a diagram on the main product page, but essentially the clamp fits behind the glans, or head, of the penis. Mnay thanks

Question: I've just bought Dribblestop from yourselves, however I'm getting a problem with it slowly slipping off the end of my penis!
Why is this?

I am not circumcised- should I be pulling the foreskin back when attaching the Dribblestop or not?
Our Answer:

Hi, the foreskin is moving and pulling the clamp with it. You are correct in that you should be pulling the skin back just until the tip of the penis shows then apply clamp behind the head of the penis, this gets rid of a lot of skin and the clamp is more effective, you can also pull the foreskin forward as far as you can and then apply the clamp, by doing this the skin cannot more forward. Obviously, make sure you are comfortable with whatever position you use. If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact us.

Question: Having had a radical prostatectomy, I have absoluty no bladder control at all and no feeeling of a full bladder - at the moment I have to use maximum absorption pads and go through many both day and night. Will this device control heavy incontinence?
Thanks
Our Answer:

Hello, the Dribblestop is designed to stop a small dribble of urine, a flow that would ordinarily be stopped by the body. This is particularly the case after prostate troubles or operations, where the small dribble of urine can be stopped by the use of this clamp.

The Dribblestop, however, is not designed to "hold in" a need to actually urinate. The Dribblestop would not be effective or recommended in the case of heavy incontinence, where there is a strong flow of urine. Many thanks

Question: Does this product cause constriction?
How long is it safe for the device to be continuously worn?
Our Answer:

Hello, the Dribblestop is designed specifically to apply just enough pressure to the urethra to prevent the flow of urine, and will not cause a constriction of blood flow, and is completely safe. It is primarily aimed at stopping the small trickle of urine caused by bladder leakage. Many thanks

Question: Is this the REAL ORIGINAL kit from Heinrich Rennish?
Does it come EXACTLY as if I were to order it from Canada on original website (1box 2 clamps etc. + instructions). How come it is almost cheaper to order it from you, if it is the same product.
I need to receive it by xmas so I'd rather order from you but it has to be the genuine product.
thanks for reply
Thanks
Our Answer:

Hello, we are a UK authorised reseller of the Dribblestop, and have worked with Rennich Industries (Henry Rennich's company) for some years. We ONLY sell genuine products, and I am happy to confirm that this is the genuine Dribblestop, which does indeed come complete with two clamps and links and full instructions. Many thanks, Richard

Question: hi, how would i know what size would fit me .

have had prostate removal.
Our Answer:

Hi, the Dribblestop is fully adjustable, and each penile clamp comes with different sized links resulting in a choice of size options from small to large. The Dribblestop needs to be placed just behind the head of the penis, not on the foreskin, using the smallest clamp that feels snug. Many thanks, Richard

Question: If I order the Dribblestop kit and you post to me will the package you send fit through a normal size letter box or will it be necessary to have someone at home to receive the package?
Our Answer:

Hello, the Dribblestop fits into a Jiffy bag so it can fit through your letterbox - although we normally do send them out in Jiffy bags, if you put a note in the order we can make sure this happens. Many thanks, Richard

Question: I have recently had my Prostate removed (prostate cancer) and suffer the associated dribbling of urine. This becomes a problem when playing golf and also when I cough, when 'surges' occure. If I opted for this system would the urine in the tube between the bladder and penis cause pressure on the pevic floor muscle, bladder or connecting tube and cause any damage in the long term? Also has any medical authority approved the use of this device for prostate problems such as mine?
Our Answer:

Hi,
The Male Urinary Incontinence Clamp Kit Dribblestop is designed to stop a dribble of urine, the sort of dribble that would ordinarily be held by your own pelvic floor muscles. Stopping a small amount of urine should not cause any undue pressure on the pelvic floor, bladder or connecting tubes. The Dribblestop, however, is not designed to "hold in" a need to actually urinate. Although the Dribblestop does not require medical authority approval, the NHS routinely provides incontinence clamps, although these are large and unwieldy, and can be uncomfortable to wear. Whilst there is no medical authority approval that we are aware of, testimonials include one from the Editor of procansupport.com - a Foundation for Prostate Disease, which can be viewed at http://www.peak-nutrition.co.uk/mens_health/male_urinary_incontinence_mui/dribblestop_mui_clamp.htm . Many thanks

Question: Can dribblestop safely be used on an uncircumcised penis? V
Our Answer:

No problem at all - whether circumcised or not is irrelevant to how well the DribbleStop works. Thanks

Question: How long will a set of two clamps last before a repurchase is necessary?
Our Answer:

They should last as long as you need them to be honest. We have never had anyone ask to purchase additional ones as yet. Thanks

Question: This is with all my HONESTY that as I'm registered Disabled suffering with Severe Epilepsy for LIFE & I'm on a low income support of less than what a man would earn. I find the Item that I'd quite like to buy too dire. As I thought I'd get two at that price. So I really can't afford to pay for it. And this is my HONEST TRUTH
Yours Faithfully
E. Guidetti
Our Answer:

Hi, you get 2 for that price.

Question: Do you them in sets of two?
Our Answer:

They come in sets of 2 so that you can alternate the clamps - this allows the foam to reset itself every day for best performance. It also comes with a set of links too. Thanks

Question: I have recently had my Prostate removed and have been left with dribbling, the Surgeon and my GP have stated that full control should return while performing regular 'Pelvic Floor Muscle' exercises. Would the 'Dribblestop' hinder these exercises or would my hopeful return to normality be just down to said exercises. I with my family have a long planned holiday arranged to Florida on the 23rd Sep and I am contemplating cancelling due to my leaking, Will this tool see me through to enjoy the long flight and holiday ?
When releasing the clip is there a gush or can flow be controlled ? Hoping to hear from you asap
Our Answer:

Hi, firstly yes, this will get you through your holiday and thereafter no problem. There is no "gush" as such as the only urine that can collect is what fits in the narrow pipe from your prostate to the end of the penis - couple of tea spoons say - not really measured it to be honest. However, a "gush" has never really been reported by anyone so far.
Oh, it won't hinder pelvic floor toning either, no. Many thanks
