About Breastlight For Early Detection
Breastlight - enlightened breast awareness. A wonderful device that lets you see inside your breasts and helps with early detection of abnormalities
With the NHS Breast Screening programme providing a scan only once every 3 years AND then only for women over the age of 50 it is very important that all us womend check ourselves regularly.
You should obviously self-examine as often as possible and the Breastlight can also be used to add a more detailed, further level of self-examination.

Recently featured on ITV This Morning - Dr Chris Steele said, "..a hand held device that sends out high intensity light...shows shadows and abnormalities..remember though 80% are usually normal...a good way for a woman to discipline herself for self-examination and to see if anything needs looking at further. A wonderful device."
BreastLight - How Does It Work?
Breastlight is a new product that allows you to see inside your breasts. It works by shining a powerful light through the breast tissue.
It is completely safe and easy to use.
Over 80% of women have told us they feel more confident when using Breastlight as part of their breast awareness routine.
The manufacturers call this enlightened breast awareness.
The Power Of LIght!
With Breast Light you get an amazing view of your breasts - one you have never seen before!
The Breastlight shines a harmless red light through your breast tissue so you can see the inside of your breast like never before:

By using regularly you can get to know what is normal for you, you can then see any changes that may occur and hopefully feel a lot more confident that all is well with your breasts.
What Will You See With The BreastLight?
When you first use the BreastLight you will see veins and blood veseels as dark lines. These are totally normal of course.
Over time you will get to know what your breasts look like when you use the BreastLight - you will become as familiar with the inside of your breasts as you are with the outside.
The important thing, of course, is to look out for any changes.
How Do You Use The Breast Light?
Breastlight is a simple and easy to use product. The key points are:
- Choose a room that you can make as dark as possible
- Apply lubricant to your skin
- Turn on Breastlight under one of your breasts and look down
- Keep your Breastlight pressed tightly against your skin.
- Use a mirror so you can see more
- Check all areas – including under the arms and high on the chest

What Will You See With the BreastLight?
You will see veins and other blood vessels as dark shadow lines in your breast. These are totally normal.
Around the nipple you may see a circle of small dots – these are part of your mammary glands. These are also totally normal.
These pictures are examples of normal healthy breasts:

As with all the aspects of breast awareness the important things is to look out for any changes.
What To Look Out For
When you are looking at your breasts with Breastlight you may also see other dark areas. These could look like very dark spots or a shadowy area.
It is possible that these are abnormalities in the breast. If you see these you should go to your GP for advice.
These pictures are some examples of what to look out for.

Remember that not all abnormalities are cancerous. In fact in about nine out of ten cases it will not be a cancer but a minor ailment that can easily be treated.

Further Advice & Disclaimer
Avoid using Breastlight during and after pregnancy
Pregnancy and lactation enriches the blood supply to breast tissue and enlarges the breast which may cause a false reading using Breastlight.
It is best not to use Breastlight during pregnancy and you should wait at least 6 months after giving birth, and longer if still breast feeding, before using it.
Using Breastlight if you have had treatment for breast cancer
If you had a lumpectomy, you will be able to see the rest of your breast normally with Breastlight but there may be a thickening area over your scar tissue. This may mean an increased supply of blood capillaries to the scar area which could look darker with Breastlight.
If you had a partial removal of your breast, you can still use Breastlight on the remaining tissue.
If you had your breast removed and reconstructed, you will not be able to use Breastlight, as it only works on breast tissue. A total mastectomy will remove all the breast tissue; reconstruction uses implants and skin graft tissue.
Disclaimer:
Whilst Breastlight is a valuable aid to breast awareness, Breastlight is not capable of detecting all sizes, positions and types of breast abnormalities. It is not intended for use as a diagnostic device. Peak Nutrition Ltd & PWB Health makes no claim that breast cancer, breast lumps or other breast diseases will be found when using Breastlight
Breastlight may highlight a potential abnormality that subsequently turns out to be normal or requires minimal medical intervention. For example blood filled cysts and haemotomas will appear as dark areas. However we would recommend that any suspicious signs are investigated by a doctor. Breastlight is not suitable for use when breast feeding. If in doubt please seek the opinion of a medical professional.
