About Food Detective Food Intolerance Testing Kit
Test for Food Intolerances In Your Own Home With The Food Detective: Results Returned in Minutes!
Do You Suffer With:
- A 'bloated' feeling after eating?
- Constant tiredness?
- Disturbed sleep patterns?
- Irritated skin e.g eczema or urticaria
- Fluctuating weight
- Headache
- Depression
- Anxiety
Then you may have a food intolerance!
Understanding Food Intolerances...

Food Intolerances are unpleasant reactions to certain foods. Many people's reactions can be quite upsetting and lead to ill-health.
A typical food allergy, such as one to shellfish or nuts usually manifests itself in an immediate and frequently severe reaction after exposure to the suspect foodstuff.
Please be aware, though - a food intolerance is completely different to a food allergy
Food allergy symptoms include sneezing, rashes, skin irritation, swelling, runny nose, fatigue, diarrhoea and vomiting. These symptoms often occur within a few minutes of contact with the offending ingredient, but in some cases, the reaction can be delayed for a few hours.
A food allergy is quite rare...it tends to affect only about 2.5% of the population. The most common food allergens are peanuts, eggs, milk and seafood
A food intolerance on the other hand, is rarely life-threatening, although it can make one's life miserable.
It has been estimated that around 45% of the population suffer with some form of food intolerance
People who have a food intolerance will often have a number of different symptoms including weariness, headaches and feeling 'out of it'. Because these symptoms are quite vague, food intolerances can often go undiagnosed.- Fundamentally, a food intolerance is the body's abnormal reaction to specific foodstuffs.
- Symptoms can vary from person to person, but a non-exhaustive list can include diarrhoea, headaches, skin conditions, respiratory problems, lethargy and anxiety.
- Isolating a food intolerance can be quite difficult due to some symptoms having late onset.
- After diagnosis, it is surprising just how many people discover that they have been suffering with a food intolerance for many years and put their symptoms down to other root causes.
Symptoms of Food Intolerance
If you regularly suffer with one or more of the following symptoms, you may be a victim of a food intolerance.
| Anxiety (acute or chronic) | Fibromyalgia |
| Arthritis | Gastritis |
| Asthma | Headaches |
| Attention Deficit Disorder | Hyperactivity Disorder |
| Bed wetting | Inflammatory Bowel Disease |
| Bloating | Insomnia |
| Bronchitis | Irritable Bowel Syndrome |
| Coeliac Disease | Itchy skin problems |
| Chronic Fatigue Syndrome | Malabsorption |
| Constipation | Migraine |
| Cystic Fibrosis | Sleep disturbances |
| Depression | Water retention |
| Diarrhoea | Weight control problems |
How Does The Food Detective Work?
A small sample of blood from a finger-prick is diluted, added to a testing tray and then, using detector and developer solutions, the presence of food antibodies can be identified.- The food layout plan which is enclosed with the kit will allow identification of the suspected foods to which you may be intolerant.
- Food Detective™ takes only 40 minutes to deliver comprehensive results.
Food Detective™ is the world’s first self test for food intolerance. Test safely, easily and quickly in the comfort of your own home

Interesting!!
Caroline
Hmmm...that's about all I can say at the moment! I had a strong reaction to 3 and a mild to 1; glad I didn't have more. And the surprising thing is I was told I had one when I was a child (cow's milk) and worked one out for myself (wheat but not gluten) and one I'd never of guessed (Rye) and a very mild one to another I never would have thought (white fish but it was too pale for me to count and the peppers just had a ring so was dismissed).
But that's the 3; Cow's milk, Wheat and Rye :-) Which means I can still eat pasta which is Durum wheat and I am glad there was a seperate test for that-Thank you Food Detective!
Overall I am very satisfied with the test and would recommend it: and press hard with the lancet to get enough blood to flow-it does work if you do it fast and right. Very pleased and mind Finally at rest!
RE: anybody with no intolerances found
Daniela
Yes my husband had no intolerances found, only the positive control spot was blue.
I had quite a few intolerances found myself and it is true that I have been suffering from itchy rushes for years and he has not had such problems. I believe that skin itchiness is always some kind of allergy reaction while other health problems may develop for various reasons.
The test kit is very user friendly except of the blood collection tube. I don´t even understand why it is included in the kit. Would it not be easier to instruct the user to add a few drops of blood directly to the relevant bottle? We have both done that it this way as the tube really is good for nothing.
I am very pleased with this kit and the results it gave us and would recommend it to anyone. Without this kit I could never identify most of the foods that gave me trouble.
Anybody with NO intolerance found?
Bosi
Just wondering before i buy one, it seems like everyone who tried this test had at least 2 intolerances found, mainly more than 2.
Does that test ALWAYS finds something, also in 'heathy' people (without intolerance/problems)?
Thanks for any answer!

Peak Nutrition Reply: Hello, indeed, the food intolerance kit will only show an intolerance, so can be used to disprove a possible intolerance as much as confirm a suspicion of one.
Good result
Sally
I found the test easy to do, and have done it now on my husband and children! Mine showed a dairy intolerance and I have now had over 3 months on a non-dairy diet. This diet has had dramatically positive effects: my immune system has improved as I have felt healthier and had no colds. Previous to this I had a cold and felt under par all the time. It's been life changing using the test! Total evangelist!
OMG - I didn't realise...
Dom
...I was intolerant to wheat. Had no idea - explains the wind my wife says! I have been bloated for years but how do you avoid wheat when you love butties and cereal like I do? Guess cutting down is in order instead of cutting out! Knocked a star off for the blood-in-the-tube issue others mention - I did do it but it was a faff - why couldn't they have a larger tube to collect the blood? Anyway - good all round.
Dissappointed
Ann
Despite bleeding all over my kitchen, I failed to get more than a few drops into the vial. In my frustration I tried dropping blood directly into bottle A, and managed to spill some of the result!
I did the test anyway. Despite saying positive test, I don't feel it was, as intolerances I know I have didn't show up (nothing else showed up).
Peak Nutrition Replies:
I am so sorry you did not have a good experience with this product. Getting blood into the tube does seem tricky for some people - there is a definite knack to it! In regards to the results if you avoid the food intolerances you are aware of they will NOT show up in the result since the kit works by detecting the intolerance reacting. If it is not reacting (due to avoidance) then it will not show as an intolerance.
If you managed to drip a few drops of blood into the bottle it will have worked and if it indicated a positive test then it has definitely worked and had enough blood to work with.
The kit should not really be used to confirm known intolerances unless you are not avoiding the foods that cause them.
On a different note - if you would like to purchase another kit we will do one at cost for you - call us to discuss. Kind regards
Good results
Martie
I was very pleased to receive the test kit fast and well packaged.
I had no problem getting blood to flow for taking the sample, but even a stream of blood had trouble getting into the glass tube, even though I followed the instructions and didn't cover the other end. I managed to fill the tube 2/3 and added a drop of blood to the bottle to compensate and it the test worked.
There were definate results in the control spots that the test worked. It showed definate intolerance to Whole Eggs, Peanuts and Yeast.
The test was very easy to perform and I would recommend it, changing my diet and avoiding foods I am intolerant to, have made a great change to my health.
Excellent value and easy to use
Paul
I found the testing kit very easy to use and very simple. Best thing to do is read through the instructions and watch the video a couple of times before you start. Set everything out and give yourself some peace and quiet for around 45 mins to do the test. I used my thumb on my left hand (as I am right handed) and washed my hands under hot water to get the blood flowing. I had no problem filling the tube, infact I could have filled it 3 times over. The test results showed I have a strong intolerence to eggs and cows milk, so there goes the cheese & fried eggs.
Not sure it worked
Serena
I think this product has the potential to be good however, I really struggled to get any blood in the test tube. After 2 attemps using the needles provided I managed to fill a tiny amount of the tube so I had to use my own needle and stab myself several times to get more blood which I still filled less that half after 5 attempts. By the time I had done this the blood had dried and congealed in the tube and did not mix into the solution and was still solid floating in the bottle after I had poured out the contents into the tray. There was no mention of what to do if you simply cannot fill the tube or that you should do it quickly otherwise it may solidify. I feel the test did not work as a result of this even though the positive circle went blue. Altogether quite disappointing given that it costs so much.
Peak Nutrition Replies:
Hi, we're sorry to hear of your difficulties with the kit - as previous reviewers have found there is a bit of a technique to it. I know that we spoke to you on the phone, and as you did get the positive circle went blue then it does indicate that the kit worked. Many thanks
Quick and easy to use!
Claire
After reading these reviews and not being able to fully fill the blood collection tube thing (only got half in there after 2 attempts!) was worried it wouldn't work. But I am glad to say it did!
After suffering from IBS and ecezma for years I thought I would give it a try. I always assumed it was wheat I was intolerent to (don't ask me why, probably as I eat a lot of bread!) but it turns out I have strong intolerances to cows milk and whole egg with slight intolerances to mushroom(?), durum wheat, yeast and gluten (so maybe I should go easy on the bread!).
This is excellent value for money and I would recommend this to my friends. A lot cheaper than other tests I have seen (over 200 quid!).
So I will now avoid cows milk and egg and cut down on the wheat products. Will let you know how it goes!
unlucky =/

I've watched this video twice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ua9cABHjt4
and I've read the instructions. I've even made my own list what's the next step =) The timing also has to be good because I've used a stopwatch. I've used both of the safety lancets (made a strong push on the second one) but I've got negative results.
Maybe I should pushed strong the first one too. But who knows how strong should I push at the first time and it can't be used second time.
Negative results are false because I know I have intolerance with pork. I'd like to know what else caused my migraine.
Peak Nutrition Replies:
Peak Nutrition: Hi, thanks for the reply - however if you have avoided Pork already then it will not show up in the test. Basically, the testing kit tests for enzymes that are only created when you react to an intolerance. If you have avoided those foods then the enzymes won't be there and will not show up in the test. Many thanks
Feel more confused now...
Jess
After reading the reviews and watching the instructional video I was aware that it was difficult to get blood into the test tube. After lots of squeezing and trying to get the blood from my thumb, the results came back very pale and inconclusive. Maybe I don't have any intolerances but I can not say that confidently as I couldn't get much of my blood into the test tube. As Rachel found it is very expensive to re-test and quite frustrating.
Best mothers day gift ever
Denise
my daughter ordered this kit and presented it to me for mothers day!
she knew I had been feeling under the weather, chronically fatigued, always feeling bloated after meals even with small portions. she saw the kit advertised and made an order. We found the kit easy to follow with clear instructions collecting the blood was tricky but we managed, after competetion of the test it turned out I have a strong intollerance to 5 foods wheat, cows milk, egg, gluten, rice and mild intolerance to 7 other food types!! unbelievable,
with that she took me along to Asda to the "Free From" range and allowed me to get some treats! I have dropped the foods I have strong intolerance for and although its only the second day i feel a difference already much lighter, I would recommed this test to anyone who may suspect an intollerance. many thanks to food detective and my daughter Jasmine
Excellent product - quick results
Clare
I have suffered with severe hand eczema for 18 years, and have got to the end of my tether with dermatologists and steroids! I ordered this kit and it came in two days, I couldnt wait to try it out. I had a little trouble with getting blood into the tube but just added a drop of blood to the bottle to counteract this! The results showed that I am badly affected by Cows Milk and Whole Egg, with mild positives to Wheat, Rye and Yeast. I am therefore omitting milk and eggs immediately and will write back in a few weeks time with the results! I only wish this kit had been around years ago!

Thanks so much for your review - you are duly entered into our draw. However, I was wondering if you could please keep in touch with us over your progress as we'd love to use your story in more detail if possible? Maybe even a photo or two? Anyway, let us know how you get on either way. Many thanks, Peak Nutrition
Excellent!
Suzanna
After reading previous reviews I was a bit worried about getting blood into the tiny tube, however, I filled it quite easily and found rotating movements helpful.
The results showed me 4 strong and 4 mild intolerances, some of them expected and some came as a surprise.
Will definitely re-test in 3 months!
Great - maybe I bleed more easily!
TB
I read the reviews here and people complain about how hard it is to get blood into the tube - can't say I had that problem - it is a tiny tube and one does wonder why it has to be that small but I filled it easily enough. After that it showed I had 3 intolerances - now to work out how to take them out of the diet but hopefully by IBS will be gone forever once done!
Disappointed
Rachel
I also had the same problem as James where the liquid in the bottle barely covered the tray. Plus it was very very hard getting enough blood into the tiny test tube despite using my thumb. I am very disappointed in this product as i had high hopes for getting to the bottom of some of my food intolerances. Unfortunately the high price means i can't really afford to buy another pack and take the test again. I was hoping to be able to reccommend it to some of my friends but definitely won't be doing that now.
Peak Nutrition Replies
I am sorry you had trouble - the test tube is tiny and there is a certain technique - we may do a video and have it on the site actually. Are you saying the test gave negative results and you are sure it was because you could not carry out the test properly? If so, then can I suggest you call us on 0800 612 6394 and we will sort out a replacement at cost price plus shipping in this case. Thanks
good product, hard to acheive good results
James
you may need a few to get a good result. There wasn't enough liquid in my final processing bottle to cover the test areas fully. Despite swishing the liquid around the tray to compensate I got a poor quality result. I'm not bothering with another.
Peak Nutrition Replies:
I am sorry you had trouble getting enough liquid - if you could contact us to explain why we maybe able to help. If it's a case of not getting enough blood we recommend using the thumb rather than the finger. We also have spare lancettes if required too. Many thanks
Excellent
Peter
Excellent home kit that showed I had five different intolerences. This information will allow me to *finally* sort out my problems after eating. A quick tip about the kit..I found using your thumb for the blood sample produces loads more blood than a finger!
Great stuff...

I liked this too. I had the same problem trying to get the blood into the tube but hopefully it works second time. I showed up as having an intolerence to cow's milk, which I had suspected, so I will try and eliminate this from my diet as much as possible and will re-test as suggested in 3 months. The test is easy to use although it appears a little daunting. If you follow the directions you can't go wrong. Would recommend this.

I really like this product. Instructions were clear and concise. The only thing I didn't like was trying to get the blood from the little prick on my finger into the tiny tube they provide - I really struggled with that the first time. However, I am now on my 2nd test and it was a lot easier that time so I guess it was just down to experience. However, 1st test did show a wheat intolerance which explained my bloatiness and after cutting down on wheat my second test showed no intolerance anymore - which is good news!
Ask a Question
- Question: Is it IgG or IgE that responds to food intolerance, and which responds to food allergy?
- Our Answer:
Hello, the Food Detective tests for Food Specific IgG antibodies for food intolerances. Please be aware, though - a food intolerance is completely different to a food allergy.
Many thanks - Question: Could you tell me me if the kit tests for IGg or IGe antibodies.
Many Thanks - Our Answer:
Hello, the Food Detective tests for Food Specific IgG antibodies. Many thanks
- Question: Hi, I have a question: the change in temperature during shipment of the kit may interfere with the results? Thank you.
- Our Answer:
Hello, no, temperature fluctuations during shipping should have no effect on the Food Detective Kit. Many thanks
- Question: Do you post to Malta? And if so how much would it be including post?
Regards
Chris Agius - Our Answer:
Yes we do - you can simply add the cart to your basket and change your country to Malta and you will see the cost of the goods with shipping shown. It will deduct VAT too if your country is outside the EU.
The cost of the Food Detective shipped to Malta is £8.99 and should be there in 3 to 5 days at most. Kind regards - Question: Hello,
i've got question about weight Food Detective packaging. I'd like to order 4 tests to Poland. Would it be order over 2 kg? Could you please estimate the price of whole order? (4 tests to Poland)
Regards,
Karolina - Our Answer:
Hi, you can easily do this yourself by adding them to your cart and changing your country to Poland - this way you can play with 3, 4, 5 or even 6 boxes to get the most cost effective shipping price.
4 boxes would be sent International Signed For and would cost £15.99
5 boxes would push your order into Courier requirement and jump the cost to £40..99 - so if you wanted say 5, 6, 7 or 8 then it would be cheaper to place to orders (or place 1 order and we will split for you and refund the difference!). - Question: hi am just wondering if you could help me, am at the end of my teather, my son is 2 and a half years old, he suffers alot with food intolerance, we are not sure what they are, he's been tested in hospital to see if its celiac disease and that's came back normal, thankfully, we know he's intolerant to orange's but unsure what else as he's still suffering with symptoms, would this test be ok for him and if it is do u send out extra parts i.e needles and files as a incase?
- Our Answer:
Hello, the Food Detective Kit tests for 59 different intolerances, including oranges and lemons - it is suitable for using with children, and contains everything in the kit that you need to test your child for the whole range of possible intolerances. Many thanks
- Question: Is there more than one Food-Detective kit? I thought their website said 59 foods are now tested.
- Our Answer:
Hello, the Food Detective Kit tests for the following:
Cereals: Corn, Durum Wheat, Gluten, Oats, Rice, Rye, Wheat.
Nuts & Beans: Almond, Brazil Nut, Cashew, Cocoa Bean, Peanut, Legume Mix (pea, lentil, haricot), Soya Bean, Walnut.
Meats: Beef, Chicken, Lamb, Pork.
Fish: Freshwater Fish Mix (salmon, trout), Shellfish Mix (shrimp, prawn, crab, lobster, mussel), Tuna, White Fish Mix (haddock, cod, plaice)
Vegetables: Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrot, Celery, Cucumber, Leek, Peppers (red, green, yellow), Potato.
Fruits: Apple, Blackcurrant, Grapefruit, Melon Mix (cantaloupe, water melon), Olive, Orange & Lemon, Strawberry, Tomato
Other: Egg (whole), Cow's Milk, Garlic, Ginger, Mushroom, Tea, Yeast
I make that the full 59!
Many thanks - Question: Hi
If after using the food intolerance kit I found I was intolerant to certain foods and subsequently removed them from my diet, how quickly am I likely to see any improvement in my symptons?
Thanks - Our Answer:
Hi, the speed with which your symptoms abate will depend on many factors, including your rate of metabolism and the severity of your intolerance. Saying that, most people notice an improvement in their condition quite quickly after removing the identified intolerances from their diet. Many thanks
- Question: I have bought 3 kits from you to use on members of the family who suffer from intolerances.I followed the instructions exactly but on one of the kits there was no positive colour in the bottom right circles and all the circles were white. Therefore I was unable to find out what intolerances my son suffers from. This was very disapointing as it was a huge effort to get blood from a 4 year old.As this one kit seems to be faulty, could you please send us a replacement as we are concerned that if we buy another one, we may waste our money again. Please can you get back to me soon, Many thanks Victoria Mellor
- Our Answer:
Hello, in this instance, the test should be considered completely negative for the food types assayed on the Food Detective. This result is not uncommon for the simple reason that the Food Detective is an antibody test and If there are no antibodies present in the diluted blood sample to the proteins coated to the reaction tray, no antibody binding will take place and consequently no positive results will be seen at the end of the test.
However, if you are convinced your son has intolerances then the next step would be laboratory testing. Many thanks - Question: I have RA and am pregnant, I am also taking immunosuppressants. Other intolerance testing kits have said not to use if pregnant or on immunosuppressants. While I won't be pregnant forever I am not planning to stop the drugs until there is an alternative. Do you also carry the same advice and if so can you explain why and how I can still get tested?
- Our Answer:
Hello, the advice is sound - if you are pregnant or taking any kind of medication you would need to speak to your doctor before administering any kind of test. Your doctor should be able to advise on whether they think it is appropriate for you to use the Food Detective Food Intolerance and whether the results would be meaningful for you. Kind regards
- Question: Hello, I just wanted to know if the blood sample can be obtained elsewhere, such as the arm. I am interested in this kit but the required finger prick is making me hesitate. But if I can prick myself on the arm or leg, that would be okay.
- Our Answer:
Hello, the instructions do state to use a finger - however we have found that using the thumb is preferable as it is easier to day. It is only a slight prick, and we would recommend that you use your finger or thumb rather than an arm or a leg. Many thanks
- Question: How many foods does it test for?
- Our Answer:
Hello, the Food Detective Intolerance Kit tests for over 40 different intolerances, a full list of which can be found on the main product page under "What Does the Food Detective Test For?". Many thanks
- Question: Hi, I'd like to use the test to confirm some intolerances which I believe I have. As I have removed these foods from my diet I understand that I will have to consume them for the test to work. How long before I take the test should I eat the foods I'm testing for? Many thanks.
- Our Answer:
Hello, although there is no definitive time that you need to reintroduce suspect ingredients into your diet, you should give it at least a few weeks so that any increased levels of IgG antibodies - which will show an intolerance - are allowed to build. Many thanks
- Question: Hi, I bought the kit in Prague and the instructions are in Czech. Could you please send me the instructions in English? Thanks
- Our Answer:
Hello, we don't have any spare instructions for kits bought overseas - but here is a link to the instructional video we have on our site: http://www.peak-nutrition.co.uk/mens_health/food_intolerance_testing_2179/food_detective_intolerance_self_test.htm#product-ingredients. Many thanks
- Question: If I'm intolerant to cow's milk can I eat cheese?
- Our Answer:
You could try goats' cheese, buffalo cheese, ewes' cheese, soy or rice cheese; but probably not that produced from cow's milk, no.
- Question: could bacon, pork, pork sausage be cause of itching of vulva area?
- Our Answer:
Hello, the Food Detective Food Intolerance Testing Kit does test for pork intolerance (amongst its many tests), and can indicate a food intolerance that may cause skin itching. I can't be more specific on the itching you have in the vulva area, I'm afraid. Many thanks
- Question: Hello, i keep getting recurring yeast infections and i want to know if it has come back again. i havent eaten yeast in a year so would it still show up on the test? or would it be better to eat something with yeast in it on the day of the test? does this test also test for mineral defincencies?
Cheers [name removed by Peak Nutrition] - Our Answer:
Hello, if you have been actively avoiding an ingredient that you are aware you are intolerant of, then no, the Food Detective Kit will not show this up in the test. You will need to consume the ingredient you suspect you are allergic to for a little while before taking the test - I would suggest more than one day. The Food Detective Food Intolerance Testing Kit does not look for mineral deficiencies, but tests for intolernace to cereals, nuts and beans, meats, fish, vegetables, fruits and several others (including egg, mushroom etc.). Thanks
- Question: I have previously been diagnosed with allergies to wheat and dairy. I have been off these for some years now and only very rarely consume them. Will these still show on the test?
- Our Answer:
Hello, if you have been actively avoiding an ingredient that you are aware you are intolerant of, then no, the Food Detective Kit will not show this up in the test.
This is because the Food Detective is an antibody test, ie. it detects (by ELISA) IgG antibodies to the various protein extracts coated to the reaction tray.
It is very specific for IgG antibodies (high levels of which indicate intolerance) - however, if you have a known sensitivity, (self diagnosed or otherwise), and have already eliminated the "problem food", the concentration of IgG antibodies towards that protein present in the blood will begin to decrease over time (through non-exposure). This will therefore not then indicate a positive result. Many thanks - Question: Do you ship to USA?
How much is shipping to USA state of
ILLINOIS zip code 62016?
Thank You - Our Answer:
Hi, it all depends on what you are purchasing but as long as it's not one of our heavy items it will cost around £15 to £20 (around $22-$30 max). This is a 3 to 5 day service. We can ship UPS but this is normally more expensive but for heavier items we will get a quote for you. This product is not too expensive unless you start buying multiple quantities. However, we could then probably get a good price from UPS for multiples. We will call you later on as per your support request. Kind regards
- Question: Hi does the kit test for coffee or chili's?
- Our Answer:
Hi, sorry no. It does test for tea though! Thanks
- Question: Hi, I have just taken the test, the control circles turned out right but the rest of the board is completely white.
i was wondering, is it normal for someone to have an all white board except on 48 the control thing?
BTW i didn't even get a ring or a light blue dot.
Thanks - Our Answer:
In this instance, the test should be considered completely negative for the food types assayed on the Food Detective. This result is not uncommon for the simple reason that the Food Detective is an antibody test and If there are no antibodies present in the diluted blood sample to the proteins coated to the reaction tray, no antibody binding will take place and consequently no positive results will be seen at the end of the test.
If you are convinced you have intolerances then the next step is laboratory testing. Thanks - Question: Hi,
How many seperate tests will i get from each kit?Is it re usable?
Is it safe to use between diferent people? - Our Answer:
It is 1 kit and 1 test though it tests for over 40+ different intolerances. However, it can't be re-used, no. Thanks
- Question: it states not to use for anyone being treated for blood clotting, why is this? as i am on anti coagulants.
- Our Answer:
I think it's because you have to prick your finger to get some blood onto the testing area. However, I shall check with the manufacturers and get back to you. Thanks
- Question: Hi,
I read about your kit in the Daily Mail, does this kit tell you if your are intolerant to Dairy Products such as cheese?
Am i righting in thinking you get a sample of blood then test each category of food? - Our Answer:
Hi, yes it does tell you if you are intolerant to products such as cheese. Yes, you take a small sample of blood and then mix it with the supplied solutions. You then apply this solution to the testing tray and wait and see which parts of the tray change colour. It tests for lots of things - see the website for the full list. Kind regards
- Question: Does it matter if the tube is not filled fully with blood. I could only manage half. Thanks
- Our Answer:
It should be fine - as long as you have enough to mix with the solution. You should try and fill it though - try the thumb if you can't get enough from the finger. Thanks
- Question: I had a test done and put a wrong solution in at the wrong time at the end of the test the end spot inidcated that i had done the test right. However, to be sure do I need to retake it again for accurate results? Thanks

- Question: I have just used your test and find I have an intolerance to cashew nuts(!) and yeast. According to something I read there is yeast in hard cheese e.g. cheddar. Is this correct? Must I avoid one of my favourite foods? My problem is eczema and generally itchy skin.Thankyou
- Our Answer:
Hi, to be honest I couldn't say now - what the Food Detective Kit has shown you is that you have an intolerance to yeast - what the next steps are is upto you. Did it show a mild, moderate or strong reaction to yeast?
Here is what the manufacturers says about Yeast Intolerance - I hope this helps:
Q: If I come up positive to yeast, does this include brewers yeast?
A: Yes, the test includes both bakers and brewers yeast. If you come up positive to yeast, it is vital that you plan ahead as yeast is present in many different foods.
Q: If the yeast comes up positive, does that mean I have Candidiasis?
A: No, not necessarily, the test just shows that you have an elevated level of antibodies to yeast in your body. If you would like to confirm whether you have Candidiasis, then we have a separate test for specific antibodies against the Candida albicans yeast.
Q: What alcoholic drinks do not contain yeast?
A: All alcoholic drinks depend on yeasts to produce the alcohol, however distilling and filtering will tend to remove most of the yeast. Spirits, such as gin or vodka will have the lowest amount of yeast present compared with wines and beers. - Question: can you tell me if i would be doing the test myself or do i send it off. how actually would i do the test if so. thanks
- Our Answer:
Hi, you do the test yourself. You take a small amount of blood using the sterile kit (very easy to do and relatively painless) - this is then mixed with a solution and poured over the tray. Then a further solution is applied to the try and you wait for a period of time. The trap has 40+ indents and each one represents a food intolerance. They will change colour if you have a food intolerance for that particular type of food. It's very easy, quick and accurate. Many thanks
- Question: Hi, I was wondering if one test only shows up one intolerance? Thanks
- Our Answer:
No, if you have multiple intolerances they will all show up. The tray for the Food Detective has many 'spots' and each one represents an intolerance so all will show up as is appropriate. Kind regards

What customers are saying...
"I found the testing kit very easy to use and very simple. The test results showed I have a strong intolerence to eggs and cows milk, so there goes the cheese & fried eggs."
