Questions and Answers
Q. I am taking a multivitamin with 14mg of iron everyday and want to introduce zinc 14mg everyday because I dont eat enough zinc containing foods, so is o.k to for long-term use? Thanks
A. Personally I wouldn't take iron and zinc at the same time as there are a few reports that there is an interaction between the two when the iron intake is high. Mainly it is thought by some nutritionists that combining the 2 can reduce the effectiveness of both. There have also been a couple of reports that suggest an effect on hemoglobin concentrations. When iron and zinc are taken in food there is no interaction. So, in response I would seek a professional nutritionist advice on this. Thanks
Q. Is taking the 12/14 mg of zinc daily safe or will it interfere with the other vitamins? Thanks
A. It is safe but it depends on what other vits you are taking - you don't want to take too much of course. Thanks
