Q. I have just received the pelvitone but am unsure as to how far to insert it. Should it be inserted so that the horizontal part of the probe (where the wire is attached) is just at the edge of the vagina?
A. That is correct, yes. Once it's inserted to that point and the unit is working on a programme you should feel the pelvic muscle tones contract (without pain!) and you know you've just got it in the right spot. Thanks
Q. My daughter just purchased a PelviTone for me.
I am trying to work out which programme to use and I find that I do not exactly identify with any of the conditions outlined.
I am 57years old and for many years have had a problem with always needing to be aware of where the bathroom is and I also cannot drink anything on a journey or in the cinema or I would need a bathroom in a hurry.
However a more recent problem is when I get up in the night to urinate (which is almost every night and occasionally twice) my bladder sometimes 'overflows' - like it just cannot contain the liquid, yet there is no sensation at all that this is happening. Which programme would stop this happening and return full control?
Many thanks.
A. Hi, you basically have both stress and urge incontinence which is very common in women over the age of 40/50 to some degree (over 50% of women suffer from this after the age of 30 if they have had children!).
Anyway, personally I think it best you either choose a stress programme one day and then an urge programme the next day and keep alternating, or, go for the overall pelvic workout programme. Simply reply to this email if you want any more help at all. Best regards, Sharon
Q. I have seen very good reviews for the Kegel8 and Kegel 8 plus machines - but they look almost the same as this one - are they the same and just more expensive?
A. Basically the manufacturers of Kegel 8 also manufactur the PelviTone - they are the same manufacturer. The people who sell Kegel8 basically have it branded to their name. The only other difference is that the Kegel8 does not have as many pre-programmes - it's a simpler device that normally sells even cheaper than the PelviTone we sell!
Q. I was going to buy the Cleo from another site until I saw your helpful assessment of the various options. I think the PelviTone is right for me as I need to tone the rectal area also. Does this kit include the rectal probe or do I need to order this separately? Also as I am allergic to plant based gels can I use KY jelly instead?
Thank you for all the helpful information on an embarrassing subject - including both vaginal and rectal problems.
A. Hi, the PelviTone does not come with a rectal probe but we can supply one for you. Just let me know and I'll get a price for you though I think it will be around £8 or so.
Yes, you can use a non-plant based lubricant if you wish.
Q. Just bought a Pelvitone, I have got a Merina Coil fitted is it safe to use please?
A. As long as the probe does not interfere with the Coil it should be fine though you may wish to check with your GP first. Thanks
Q. Hi I was told by the doctor that i have minor prolapse from my bowel which at times i can feel in my vagina would your pelvitone help
A. As you have an existing medical condition we have to ask you to talk to your doctor for advice. Many thanks
Q. hi, could you tell me how far into my vagina i should put the probe and also i can feel the tingling but not actual muscle contactions, is this correct.
Many thanks
A. Hi, it should be inserted far enough so you can feel the contractions, but not so far it is painful. You should also be able to remove it of course. Some women find they insert it, turn it up, if they feel nothing move it around and a little higher. It does sometimes take a little time to find the right spot. Let us know via our helpdesk if you have any further questions so we can help you directly. Thanks
Q. I have just purchased the Pelvitone. I am confused as to which programme is the best for me. My main problem is leakage with sneezing/running/after drinking alcohol etc. I would also like to strengthen to improve tightness with sex. So far I have been using it on the total pelvic workout - is this the right one?
A. I would say so, yes - it's such a good general workout. If you were just after sorting out leakage I would say choose one of the stress ones but since you are after tightness as well to improve sex then the general work out is best, yes.
Q. i would like to tighten my vaginal muscules, which product would you suggest.
A. Any of the pelvic toners will help you do this. The manual one is obviously the cheapest and requires you to do all the work. The Femetone is very simple to use with just a couple of button and programmes. The PelviTone is probably the best machine in our opinion as it is well priced and has the most amount of programmes to choose from. However, as it's the most functionally rich it's also the most complicated to use. The AthenaFem is great too - a handful of programmes and wireless too. If you are not a technophobe I would go with the PelviTone. If you're after simple electro-stimulation device I would use the Femetone or AthenaFem - price being the only decider for you. Hope this helps!
Q. hi after having 3 children i dont feel as confident in the bedroom department, i have bought the pelvi tone from yourselfs and have started using programme 9, question is how strong is recommended, is it better to push yourself such as up to 55 or does that not matter as long as you feel a contraction thanks.
A. As long as you feel the contractions it's working - you can increase upto that kind of level over time - it shouldn't be painful of course or too uncomfortable. Just use regularly on that programme and increase the strength over time. In a matter of a few short weeks you will really notice the difference I promise!
Q. How often can I use the toner. I wondered if I counld keep it in for a few hours and go through a few programmes?
A. Hi, to be honest, it is best to use once a day - 1 programme - this is the most effective way. If you use it too much it won't harm you but it doesn't actually mean you get results quicker either.
Q. Hi. I have just received my toner but I cant seem to make the current go above 10. It then reverts to 0. Is this as high as the current goes, because I cant feel anything at the 10 level.
A. Hi, have you got it all connected to your body with the probe inserted? If not, it will not go above 10. If it is a new machine then the lead wires should not be at fault, but you could do a test by holding the two pronges at the end of the lead wire and pressing the plus button to see if it goes past 10. If it does then we know nothing is wrong with the lead wires. You could also do a test to see if the probe is working by holding it in the palm of your hand and again pressing the plus button to see if it goes past ten - you will not be able to go past 12 as it will start to sting in your hand. Please let me know how you get on! Thanks
Q. I have used my neurotrac pelvitone twice - I have urge/frequency. The probe is strongly expelled from my vagina as soon as I let go of it. It slipped the second time and was extremely uncomfortable as it stimulated the entrance to the vagina. I have to hold it in the whole time and my arm aches! Is there anything I can do to solve this? Also, as the workout progresses, I can no longer feel the stimulation (at 24) should I turn it up during the programme? Thanks.
A. Hi, the probe should be fully inserted and you should be sitting or lying down to stop it from falling out. If you are already lying down and it's still being expelled let me know. If you can't feel anything at 24 you should press the plus (+) button until you feel the stimulation. Let me know about the expelling probe thing! Thanks
Q. i have just had my pelvitone delivered and used it for the first time. the pelvic floor workout can you do more than one programme a day?
A. You can if you wish, yes. However, personally (I use it myself), I would stick to once a day. Thanks.
Q. I have a proplpsed bladder which I can feel just inside the entrance to the vagina. Will the machine rectify this problem and is it an alternative to surgery?
Thankyou
A. Hi, not it's not an alternative to a prolapse though it may help - you really need to discuss this with your health care professional. Thanks
Q. Are these units running off a battery or from the wall outlet? I live in the US and don't know if our current is compatible.
A. Hi, no, they run off batteries but I am afraid we don't ship to the USA, sorry.
Q. Hi, I have just used the PelviTone for the first time. I have urge incontinence and also would like to tighten my muscles generally. When I used it I couldn't feel a thing. Is this correct? I used two programs the general pelvic workout and also one for urge. I put the power upto the maximum of 10. The unit is working okay as I held it in my hand to check. Please can you advise.
A. You should be able to increase it above 10 mA. Does it revert back to 0 after 10? If so, the lead wire might be faulty so please try the other one and let us know. The best way to contact us for support is actually through our helpdesk at www.peak-nutrition.co.uk/helpdesk or simply reply to the email this answer has created. Thanks
Q. is one attached to the monitor or or is it remote thank you regards helena
A. You are attached to the device via a small cable. If you want wireless then you need the AthenaFem which used bluetooth technology - the only one of its kind. You can find it here on this site using the Product Quick Find drop down. Thanks
Q. Hi I have a slight prolapse of the urethra and also a weak pelvic floor after having 3 children. Would this product be the right one for me . I cannot run or sneeze, cough etc without a little leakage and would love to not have this embarassing problem any more. I feel I am too young at 38 to just resign myself to wearing pads when wanting to exercise etc!
Many Thanks
A. I totally agree with you! You should check with your GP before using anything to be safe but I know people use th customisable e PelviTone suffering from a prolapse but check anyway. And yes, assuming your GP says you are OK to do pelvic floor exercises this is a great product. If you want a really simple one then the Femetone or AthenaFem may be best as this one has lots of programmes and is totally. However, if you are happy using gadgets etc and can programme the VCR etc then you will be fine with the PelviTone! Thanks
Q. Hi, i have just purchased the PelviTone but I am a little confused as to why there are two leads and channels A and B. Can you enlighten me?
A. There are 2 channels for people that wish to use both the vaginal and rectal probes simultaneously. This is very rare and normally only under instruction from a physician. So, use either channel and it will be fine for you. Thanks
Q. is there a difference between femetone and pelvitone i was told i have weak pelvis floor muscules after my second child and it could get worse when i get older which one would u recommend i would like to tighten up my vaginal muscules
A. Hi, either will do the job. The PelviTone has more functionality like 11 pre-set programmes and is fully customizable. The Femetone is a lot easier to use in that respect as you choose from 3 programmes and have a + and - button and that's it. So it depends on what you want out of it - if you like gadgets and like the idea of trying different programmes then go for the PelviTone - if you just want something that's really easy to operate then go for the Femetone. Thanks
Q. I have had 4 children and although i do not have any problems with leakage, i feel quite embarassed during sex as there is very little friction. would this machine help in the bedroom department?
A. Definitely, yes. The PelviTone has a couple of programmes that may well help - both the Pelvic Floor workout programme and the sensitivity programme will help. The pelvic floor workout will probably be the best one to improve vaginal 'embrace' I would say. Thanks
Q. can the pelvitone be used duing pregnancy?
A. Hi, you should check with your midwife or Doctor before using during pregnancy. Thanks
Q. I have just bought a pelvitone but not sure how to use it. Is there a programe that deals with leaks and increased sensitivity at the same time? When using the toner how high should the milliamos be and should you be able to feel them alot or not - I want the strongest setting.
A. Hi, there is no programme to deal with both at the same time. In the booklet there is a list of the programmes and you will see one for stress and one for sensitivity. It is best if you use both these programmes on alternate days. The level at which the stimulation is set depends on each individual, normally the level is set when one feels a slight muscle contraction. Due to some sensory nerve damage you may have the current may be as much as 50-60 mA. A young sporty person with no children would expect to feel a muscle contraction around 21 mA. a person that has had children has keep herself fit and completed pelvic floor exercises would expect to feel a contraction under 40 mA. I hope this helps? Thanks
Q. I have just bought the Pelvitone and was a little worried about using it for the first time. I am concerned after using it that i doing it 'correctly'. I have bought it to try and strengthen my whole pelvic area, especially my vaginal walls after having 3 children, and used the pre set program one intially but i did not feel anytihng and wondered if this was strong enough. The overall pelvic workout seemed a lot different and i was willing to try but to be honest was scared is case it hurt or i made myself ache. I am confused ? Please help.
A. Hi, don't be too afraid! It can't damage you though it may smart a little if the settings are too high! Programme P01 is for Pelvic Floor Pain and is very light The P09 is the Pelvic Floor Workout programme and is quite a bit stronger than the P01 one you tried. However, it is only half strength of the Stress Incontinence programmes and many people use those (most common in fact) without pain. If you are worried tried Programme 2 instead. This is a Work/Rest programme so it will stimulate for 5 seconds and then rest for 5 seconds - it should be easier to tell if it's working for you or not. If you like this one then be comforted that Phase 1 of Programme P09 (Pelvic Floor Workout) is very nearly the same as P02. Programme P09 has 5 phases of varying times and each phase is slightly different to ensure full work out.
Remember, if it's uncomfortable you can always quickly turn the unit off!
Q. Hi, i would like to know which product to purchase. I suffer with lack of sensitivity, i want a product i can use at home. I have the kegel exerciser and it has helped a lot, but i would like to try something else, i find it quite tiring and also wonder if i'm doing the exercises correctly, so would like a 'machine' type of product - help please, thank you.
A. Hi, deinfitely the PelviTone - it has a specific programme (there are 11 of them I think) that just deals with sensitivity. It's a great product, great packaging and the best in regards to pre-set programmes and the fact you can programme it your self if you wish too. Good price AND comes with free HydroGel too! But the main thing for you is that it has pre-set programme just for the issue you are looking for help with. Oh, and it can replace your manual Kegel exerciser.
Q. Is it possible to buy additional probes for this item? How is it used to treat rectal incontinence and how successful is it?
A. Hi, yes you can buy additional probes for both vaginal and rectal incontinence. We currently don't have the spare probes on the site but we have some coming in soon (both types). The rectal probe is obviously smaller and slimmer and the unit itself has pre-programmes for rectal incontinence too. Many thanks.
Q. Hi, I am not sure which toner to choose. I like the one with 11 programmes, but I wasnt sure how big the vaginal probe you insert is? I've seen some on other sites that look huge and I didnt like the thought of them! I have ulcerative colitis and so have developed weakened pelvis floor muscles. I do not 'leak', but I often feel like I really need to go when I have only just been, or for a very tiny amount. I also often, especially during my period, get lower back pain and thought this may also be improved using one of these toners? I have tried doing kegal exercises, but I am not sure I am doing them correctly to be honest and have had no improvement. The cordless one sounds great from that point of view as I could wear it whilst cooking dinner, could I also do this with the 11 programme one though?
A. Hi Sarah, the PelviTone (11 programme one) probe is no bigger than any of the other electro devices so don't worr that. I think this one is one of the best due to the 11 programmes, some of which deal with "urge" issue like it sounds you may suffer from. However, it's not wireless. In regards to 'preparing dinner' while using the wireless one (AthenFem) I don't really think that would work too well. To be honest I think they are all best used when sitting down or lying down in a relaxes state. However, if you want a wireless one then the AthenaFem is the one for you. If being wireless is not an issue then definitely the PelviTone. Hope this helps.
